When the capacitor C is inserted into the transmission line, the impedance of the line is changed as follows:
Z=R+j(XL-XC)
XL: The line inductance, XL=WL
XC: The capacitance reactance which are connected in series; because the inductance and capacitance are reduced, the total impedance of the transmission line is reduced due to the connection of compensation capacitance. As the result, the voltage drop on the line is reduced, and the voltage drop from the series voltage regulators for reactive power compensation capacitor cabinet to the end of the line is improved.
